On Wednesday 15th March, our HR Executive Ms. Maxine Vella, Operations Manager Ms. Sarah Marie Grech, and Breakfast Manager Mr. Zvonko Mechalov, attended the Careers Expo at the Institute of Tourism Studies. It was a day of creating valuable connections and getting inspired by other people.
The Institute of Tourism Studies Career Expo is hosted on a yearly basis to showcase the hospitality industry and various business opportunities within this sector. It features the top 5-star and 4-star hotels of the Island as well as caterers who are promoting a career within their company. Students are invited to learn more about the different companies and opportunities available on the market, and showcase their skills. Students have the chance to apply for a work placement, or get a part time or full-time employment at one of these companies.
As one of the exhibitors, the Urban Valley Resort & Spa representatives provided general information about the resort, the different departments and outlets within the property, and possible career and development opportunities. The various team member incentives and activities were also highlighted to give the students a feel of the Urban Valley Resort company culture. Connections were made with various students wanting to grow in this industry as well as with the Institute of Tourism Studies itself, through possible training opportunities for existing team members and operational visits for its students.
We value our team, and as such are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join us and bring added experiences, values, and characteristics to the team. Our aim is to support the local institutions and students who have chosen a career in hospitality. The management of Urban Valley Resort & Spa sees such students as the future of the industry and as such, strives to offer a platform where students can experience first-hand situations and encounters that will help them develop into professionals within the industry.
